We want to bring back the bone carving workshops here at Mainstreet Lodge. Bone carving is a traditional Maori art. Many New Zealanders wear a bone or greenstone carving around their neck as a symbol. At Mainstreet Lodge we have the facilities for you to make your own special symbol of your visit to New Zealand.

One of the highlights of all the bus trips to Cape Reinga is the chance to surf the huge sand dunes. If you choose to drive yourself up to the Cape, don’t forget to add this to your trip. Remember you can have the free use of our sandboards if you stay more than 2 nights.
